Work Skills

Bakery
The bakery at Together Foundation is FSSAI certified and occupies pride of place in our centre. We started with a single microwave oven in 2016 and now run a full-fledged commercial facility.
Bakery Operations
- Commercial bakery facilities and operations under guidance of a chef visiting on weekly basis.
- Days of manufacturing are separate from those of learning to bake.
- Bakery support functions are taught to students who are not attuned to actual baking processes.
- Regular bakery exams are held and recorded to help assess students.
Core Objectives
- Impart employable skills.
- Create a learning-on-the-go platform for students to use their skills.
- Reduce dependency on adults when in the kitchen.
- Sell bakery products to generate funds for running the Foundation/reducing student fees.

Paper Plate Manufacturing
One year after Together Foundation began work, we had many youngsters who required alternative areas of engagement, apart from the bakery. The paper plate project lends itself to people of all skill sets.
Something for everyone
- A paper plate manufacturing unit was set up in 2017.
- Team members take turns to operate the machine through the day and every person manufactures approximately 50 – 100 plates a day.
- The other skills taught through this exercise are cleaning and counting the raw material, sorting manufactured plates, packing and sealing the prepared material.
- This project was launched specially for young adults who do not have the skill set for working in the bakery.

Bag Making
Together Foundation began with training our adults to make newspaper bags and over a period of time expanded to include block printing, gift bags, cloth bags, patchwork embroidery, accessory pouches and sling bags.
Our team of special adults train in 21 day periods for manufacturing every kind of bag.

Shop
Together Foundation fulfilled a ten-year dream of creating a real-world retail environment for adults with autism and other intellectual disabilities. In 2025, this dream became a reality with the inauguration of two shops by Sara Tendulkar, Director, Sachin Tendulkar Foundation and nutritionist.
The new shops are an extension of the foundation’s sheltered workshop, which provides training and employment to the beneficiaries. One shop sells edible products made in the foundation’s own FSSAI-certified bakery, while the second outlet features a variety of handcrafted items, including paper and cloth bags, pouches, and festive products. All proceeds from the sales go directly towards the stipends of the adults who create the products.
